Sep 12 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

The first of our parish meetings will take place  on Saturday 12th September 2015 between 10am and 1pm  in St. Cuthbert’s Parish Hall.  This session will consider all  of the questions  for our response to the Diocese and will be divided into small group discussions as well as group exploration of the key questions.  In the coming two months there will be much shorter sessions following each Sunday Mass (Including Vigil) but this session is the main event to consider the response to the Diocese.  Would you please make a special effort to attend and put this in your diary?

World War 1 and the Sisters of Mercy Illustrated Talk @ St. Cuthbert's Church Hall
Sep 16 @ 7:00 pm

Speakers: Claire Childs, Archivist in Bermondsey and Jenny Smith, Archivist in Birmingham.

In 2014 to commemorate the Centenary of the start of the First World War, the Archivists of the Sisters of Mercy created a standing exhibition as well as an illustrated talk to recall the experiences and involvement of the Sisters, Priests and school children during WW1.

This is a story of real people living through war.  Not the abstract ide of thousands of soldiers in trenches, but individuals-  priests talking the Catholic Faith to the trenches, children suffering zeppelin attacks and sisters nursing.  The exhibition and talk has been to many areas.  The reactions to seeing the presentation have been very positive and have given us much encouragement.
